The area of expertise ranges from basic science in magnet materials, magnet manufacturing, applications of magnets in various types of motors to patents covering sintered NdFeB magnets. Professionally, David has been involved in the development of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets, Sm-Co magnets, AlNiCo magnets, traction motors, EPS motors, Compressor motors, Water Pump motors, Actuator motors, etc.
> He walked the path from the tiniest building blocks that make magnets to global business community that shapes the future of e-mobility.
In year 2021, Shuichiro Kuroiwa (a Japanese patent attorney) and I decided to establish MagPat Consulting, LLP. We have been working closely together in the field of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets patent for four years. We’ve tackled the complexity of thousands of patents, which hinder both the manufacturing and use of these magnets, crucial to green transition.
The goal of MagPat Consulting is to help both magnet manufacturers and buyers clear any patent obstacles and provide Infringement-risk-free use of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets. As such we are delivering complete Patent Analysis, Freedom-To-Operate and technical/legal consultation on Patent Infringement Avoidance on sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets.

Sintered NdFeB patents - tackling risks in the patent soup
It’s been close to fifty years since the announcement of the new, revolutionary Nd-Fe-B magnet material in 1983. With an estimated global market capitalization of around 20 bn$/year, these magnets present a niche market. Especially sintered NdFeB magnets are gaining attention though, due to their growing importance in green transition.
