Maglab Tour, National High Magnetic Field Laboratory

MDSM attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the world’s largest and highest-powered magnet lab. Home to seventeen world-record magnets, the MagLab designs and builds unique magnet systems and leads global research in resistive and high-temperature superconducting magnet technologies.

The MagLab plays a critical role in advancing technologies for particle accelerators, medical MRI systems, fusion research, and next-generation applications. A newer research center focuses on rare earth materials and critical minerals, supporting emerging industries such as electric vehicles, battery manufacturing, and advanced infrastructure. Headquartered at Florida State University and funded by the National Science Foundation, the MagLab hosts nearly two thousand researchers each year exploring fundamental questions in materials, energy, health, and the environment.
